We haven't had a thread like this in a good while, so thought I'd bring the question up again Let's face it, many of us have an idea on what dog we would like next. If you're like me, I have name/colour/gender/breed all figured out! It would be interesting to see what everyone would like now, compared to what we all wanted a few years ago: yourpetforums.co.uk/thread/9126/favourite-dog-names

scallywag That's what they all say, but then end up getting another!.... or I'd just go away and get another anyways if he really means it! A customer has two Tibetten Terriers, and they are absolutely lovely! I did consider that breed next, but their coats are too high maintenance for my liking.

Well I think it will always be rough collies now for us although my favourite breed is the flat coated retriever (black ) but can’t talk hubby around . But has I get older and a puppy is a bit too much to handle I will have a older R/C from the rough and smooth collie rescue 😊I would have liked to get one from there before deciding to go back to Riley’s breeder but most of them have a lot of issues and we decided that we couldn’t really put in all the time with working that they would need and I also had to think of Riley and his anxiety issues . So we decided a puppy would be better for him . 😊

I wouldn't ever get a breed that's unhealthy due to its breeding. If I could find a breeder that has lines with low rates of cancer then I may consider it but otherwise no. It's either a golden or a yellow lab for me

My first choice would be a Cockapoo, they are so cute, especially the sandy coloured ones. I would call her Meadow.

Not a Romanian rescue called Rumpelstiltskin! Don’t get me wrong, I love him, but think the next one’s got to be some top line Border Collie, and I’m going to give it to Mary Ray or someone to train for the first year, and then I’ll have it back! I’d love a retriever or a shepherd, American bulldog, Kelpie, Australian Cattle Dog, I could go on! I’d love another Labradoodle, but don’t know if I could. I’m forever comparing Rumple to Millie, but feel with another doodle I definately would, and I’m sure another wouldn’t live up to Millie, so don’t think I could! scallywag there’s a Tibetan Terrier that I often see out walking, she’s really lovely! Also had one in my class - absolutely gorgeous and quite smart too!

Well, I still want another springer although I don't know that it will be my next dog.
I want a border collie, although I haven't really decided whether I want a boy or girl (I'm leaning towards boy as that's what my next springer was going to be) so no names as yet. I want something a bit more unusual though.
But I also like the Mini American Shepherds that I've seen and I'd quite like one of those. Again, whether it would be next I don't know and I don't know whether I'd want a boy or a girl so no names in mind as yet!

It's either a golden or a yellow lab for me after doing lots of research on retrievers the history of cancer but is off although cancer is much more so in the labs ☹️ Rough collie have very little health issues so that is one of the reasons why we went for the R/C.😊

Easy question! Another long haired Border Collie (rescue - being suckers for punishment!), not bothered whether dog or bitch. And the name would depend on the personality of the dog. We invariably change the names of our rescue dogs when they arrive to avoid any unpleasant associations with the past; it's easy, simple and effective.

It would be female At the moment the names that sticking are Ffion and Bea. Though looking at original post still like names Pebbles, Pumpkin, (moaning) Myrtle and Evie so guess they can be back up names As for breed I am unsure. Most likely it would be from within Gundog group. The long list would be (in no order) :- Golden - working line as they tend to be smaller in size, not heavy coated and darker coloured Flat coat - Either colour - There are breeders working hard to reduce cancers and I would approach the one I did before I had Phoebe as she knew the lines that were working towards that goal. Italian Spinone - Guess I would prefer the brown but would be happy with an orange. Curly coat - vulnerable breed so suspect no chance based on ones bred will be wanted for working / show homes + not many bred Sussex spaniel - vulnerable breed so suspect no chance based on ones bred will be wanted for working / show homes + not many bred German Longhaired Pointer - If I want a real challenge!! German wirehaired Pointer - If I wanted an even greater challenge to a longhaired one! Large Munsterlander - If I want a real challenge!! There is a local breeder of these who I think I would contact and try and meet before even seriously considering having one! Then again could well be rescue, been a few from the local rescue who I have met and fallen for!
