Blackberry did really well at her 2nd cat show. My main aim was for her to gain her 2nd Master Cat certificate, which she did. She didn't do as well as last year on her side classes but I'm not worried about those as they are mainly for fun and even the cat picked for Best in Show Household Pet didn't have all 1st places in the side classes. Blackberry had 1 x 1st place, 1 x 2nd place and 3 x 3rd place cards for the side classes. Now for the best bit...she had a rosette for 1st colour class, she should have had a rosette with MC for Master Class on it (but none of the other cats had theirs either.)and she had a rosette with BIC (Best in Class). We didn't receive her certificate as they didn't have them so it's being posted. The judges choose the Best in Show Household Cat from all the household pets that have gained a BIC. Blackberry didn't get that title but I am aiming for it! And then I was really chuffed to see a lovely big yellow rosette on her cage with 'Show Manager's Choice' on it - that made my day. Towards the end of the show we came back to Blackberry's cage and there was a gift wrapped present in there. It was a lovely Alex Clark china mug with tortoisehell cats on it. A card was attached with a cat breeder name on it and on the back it said 'My choice, congratulations!'. I looked up her name in the show programme and found the number of the cat she was showing and went to thank her (she's also the show's vice president). She said Blackberry was beautiful and deserved it. Photos to follow.
Next year I am hoping she gets picked for Best in Show Household Pet. It's just as well she wasn't this year as you have to take your cat to the front of the room and people clap. Blackberry was alarmed every time people clapped. I am going to have to get her used to clapping before the next show. I realised that when the cats are naughty in the house I clap my hands and shout at them! I'm going to have to stop doing that.

Just found the judges report on Blackberry online: This is a large and mature girl with a lovely coat in shades of red, black and white. She has an attractive white blaze to her face, a red splodge on her nose and chin and a white chest. She has a thick, short and very plumy tail. Her eyes are very pretty, quite deep set and are a shade of amber. Her preparation was quite good, but she was a little knotty on her undersides. She was a shy girl, who handled OK, but she preferred the sanctity of her pen.Not a bad report - I'll have to make sure to get at her undersides more. I teased one knot out in the morning before we went to the show. Amber eyes? ? They are actually green!!

Oh well done Blackberry. You're right lotsofcats a nice report but what is it with judges being colour blind something similar has happened in one of Elaine's reports. How brilliant to get the Show Manager's choice. As she already had a mug with a tortoiseshell on it as the prize then she must really like them I bet you can't wait till next year to (fingers crossed) get her Master Cat certificate & Best in Show Household Pet

It was the first time they've done the Show Manager's choice. Yes, fingers crossed to get her Master Cat 3rd certificate next year so she'll be a Master Cat Champion. I don't think I will go on to the Grand Master Cat certificates. I would love to get Best in Show Household Pet but I think Blackberry is a bit too shy to be chosen, it's down to personality. I'm thinking of showing Kali next year with Blackberry as she is very, very friendly and pretty (of course!). Only thing is, she is a pudding and would have to lose weight. Maybe it's a good idea to show her as I will have to get the extra weight off her, which is in her best interest.

What lovely rosettes lotsofcats almost a match for Blackberry's colours. Taking 2 cats next year will make it more interesting or should that be nerve-racking for you. Although not sure but would they be competing with each other, although thinking about it Kali is a short hair isn't she? In which case they will be in different classes. good luck on the weight loss for Kali, always difficult with multi cat households I had a look at the HP results & the 2 judges reports. I'm intrigued though according to the results Blackberry was judged by 1 judge but is on the other judge's report!! Let's hope you get yet another different judge for Blackberry next year so that her 3rd MC will make her an MC. It's one of the issues Elaine has in getting the different judges especially at the higher levels when there are so many more entries as the structures merge.

tonib, someone made a mistake on the first report of the cat show and put the wrong judge name against Blackberry! Blackberry and Kali wouldn't be competing against each other as one is in a long haired class and the other short haired. Only thing is, Kali would be in the same class as a cat called Teddy who the judges absolutely love, he was Best Household Pet last year and always gets the Best in Class, but Kali could still get her Master Cat Certificate, I think. Teddy is collecting for his Olympian Certificates at the moment and is only entered for the Best in Class award. His brother Boo was the Best Household Pet this year. I would be relying on Kali's friendly personality to win the judge over.

Blackberry did really well at her 3rd cat show. Altogether she had: Best of Colour rosette Colour Class 1st rosette 1 x 1st place, 1 x 2nd place and 2 x 3rd place certificates for her side classes Master Certificate - this is her 3rd one and she is now a 'Master Cat'. I can now apply for a medal with Master Cat on it. If she was going on to win more awards, the next to aim for would be 'Grand Master Cat' and she has to be awarded 3 separate certificates by 3 different judges at 3 separate shows. Ceramic heart award with 'Judges Choice' on it Best of Variety non pedigree pet rosette Best in Show non pedigree pet rosette A llama cat toy A lovely ceramic cat food bowl with Best in Show and Celtic LH & SLH Cat Show 2020 on it A bottle of bubbly A large bag of cat litter I am so proud of her and I was so shocked that she won Best in Show non pedigree pet as she gets so grumpy in the afternoon that I didn't think the judges would consider her for it. I was sat with my daughter by Blackberry's cage and we could see the judges going around making their choice for the best in show and we heard one say "It's between those 3", but we thought it was between the one on the left of us, one to the right and one around the corner. then, when 2 judges came and took the cat on the left out and looked at her, we really thought she was the one. We had only seen the judges look at Blackberry once while we were with her. Then the judges stated that people had to bring the winning cats to the front and they said pen 86 - I looked at my daughter and she looked at me and we were convinced that they had said the wrong number. I had to grab Blackberry out of her cage, pop her in her carrier and take her down to the front and put her in one of the winner's cages ready to be judged. As you can see she looks a bit bored in her photos as she was ready to go home by then. The judge said she was a beautiful girl with lovely colours and lovely green eyes, pretty markings and her white was very white (I don't even bath her for shows). The white cat in the pen on Blackberry's right won the Best in Show Pedigree Pet (a pedigree with no papers) and he's a Persian. The judge then had to choose between Blackberry and Monty for the overall winner of the household pet section and she said she had to not let her heart rule her head and chose Monty. I didn't mind that as his coat was amazing, pure white and so long and he was purring. The winner in the pedigree section was a Persian called Dandy Lion who has not only won this show before but has also won the Supreme Cat Show, which is the cat equivalent of Crufts. I don't think the owner should enter him into small shows after winning that, she should give the other cats a chance. I won't be taking her again as I'm happy with her Master Cat title and she gets a bit fed up with it all as you can see by her grumpy face in the photos! She certainly went out on a high. Just had an email from the GCCF (The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy) confirming that Blackberry has obtained her Master Cat level and can now be known as MC Blackberry - my daughter said it sounds like a rapper's name!

congratulations to you & MC Blackberry lotsofcats. Great prizes & pictures along with superb rosettes Had a look at the show reports section of the GCCF & found their photos - lovely one of Blackberry. show pictures I see the overall BIS Household pet was a white LH kitten, the shows we go to have a larger percentage of BIS HP winners from the LH/SLH pedigree section, they seem popular with the judges.

Thank you! The judge said she had a difficult choice between Blackberry and Monty for the overall BIS household/pedigree pet, and then said she had to not let her heart rule her head and chose the pedigree pet. Monty's a Persian. I think that he deserved it for the beautiful coat. Monty's owner gave me her bag of cat litter (part of prize) as she didn't use that sort. I was pleased to see Blackberry's photo - she's got her grumpy face on though.
