Just for info and update. Phoebe is currently on antibiotics when it suddenly flared up again. Blame me thinking that it was looking a lot better so I had stopped using the green clay and did not hair dryer her after a beach walk. That will teach me!

2 weeks from the final check scallywag? Beau's probably just feeling he rather overdid it instead of any damage - Fingers crossed. sorry to read about Pheobe's hotspot, hope you quickly get it under control again caz2golden.

Has anyone had experience of using Cortavance in regard to using on hotspots? Went back for check up yesterday and sadly it was not the same vet but a locum. He hardly looked at the hotspot which is now a scabbed area. He spent more time out of the room looking for drugs than speaking to me! He prescribed more antibiotics which I am not complaining about as she has had a number of hotspots along her tail so want to be 100% sure that all infection has gone. At the same time he suggested using this Cortavance spray. At that moment in time I did not question it and off I went antibiotics and spray in hand! In hindsight the area is not bothering Phoebe, it is not red, inflamed or obviously sore though she is anti you touching her tail which is understandable as she was very sore only a week ago. I am really unsure that this spray is currently needed! Then I think well keep it for next time (as there probably will be one) and then you realize it says not to use on cutaneous ulcers. Now I will hold hand up and go no idea what that is but I would guess (probably incorrectly) it means open wound. This made me question if it should be used on a fresh hotspot! The data sheet does imply it was used on hotspots as part of the trial. Thinking of taking it back to the vets on Friday when Gypsy is next due in for her treatment but have doubts that even though it is unopened they will refund it! For those that are interested (from Virbac Canada site) this is the datasheet ca.virbac.com/files/live/sites/ca-public/files/contributed/pdf/CORTAVANCE-Hydrocortisone-Aceponate-Topical-Spray-Insert.pdf
