Oh heck! That's not good at all for your holiday, either deciding to cancel or if you can find someone to look after all 3 you're just going to worry while you're away.
If your do cancel will you be able to claim on your travel insurance?

Roman has happily chowed down on his food with the powder in, taken tablet, capsule & Loxicom easily but still tries to squirm away from the drops although it seems to be more the bottle advancing than the drop in the eye. with a full bottle its slightly quicker to the drop into his eye as its quite stiff to squeeze. He thanks you for your concern. You're right cazypops we've decided not go on holiday. We're with /easyjet which has non-refundable flights but we may be able to transfer them to another flight (at a small cost) so we are considering when & where we could go which looks like early next year. We're still going to have the week as holiday just based at home. I doubt the travel insurance will cover cat illness but worth checking, some pet insurances do cover it but we took the pet bank account route, one down side of that method of funding vet bills. Actually just checked our insurance & found that it covers cancellation due to:- But don't think cat flu counts!

That is disappointing, hope you still manage to get a good rest.
If you've paid for your holiday on a credit card you may still be able to claim it back from them if not your insurance.
Glad that Roman is taking his med ok, and I don't like anything going towards my eyes either so really feel for him, poor lad.

Oh bloody hell Toni I know exactly how you must be feeling what a sod , is that definite then ? I am still waiting on my Docs to fill in my insurers questionnaire its been 2 weeks now, but im accepting the fact that we wont be able to claim, the kennels we are with are a weeks notice or payment in full !! so lost that £268 but they did say next booking if we went shortly we could pay cash and get 20% disc but we cant find a holiday anyways , just as well cause the holiday we lost over night ( sold out ) turns out if we had booked , last week , would have clashed again with my op, so someone's looking out for me , not sure where but yeah HUGS to you x Keep us posted x

Well Roman was back at the vets today. Temperature was now normal, apparently it was on the high side of normal last Monday. His conjunctivitis has improved but not perfect yet & his throat is still showing signs of issues. So tey kept him in to test his blood as cat flu when vaccinated can be the sign of something else compromising the immune system (kidney disease was mentioned!!!!!! ) I definitely dind't need to hear that However the good news - bloods OK, slight increase in a liver enzyme but nothing to worry about!! However he's to have more antibiotics, eyedrops & something to clear the mucus in his throat. Also he may be symptom free by next weekend but still likely to be infectious As to the other 2 they may well not be affected or infectious but could be shedding the virus. So cattery contacted & I got the expected response that they would therefore not be able to take any of the cats. I hadn't realised it was half term so they were full but that also explains the high price of air fares!!!! So now we have to consider what we are going to do about our holiday. The neighbour has said they would look after Roman but all 3 especially making sure they're in at night & not too early as Osiris will have toileting disasters, is a lot to ask. Definitely Friday 13th!!!! At least Roman was a good boy & didn't need sedation for them to take his bloods so I'm off to pick him up now. how did I miss this post ? saw the next one and that's the one I responded to till I read cazypops comment then went looking to see what I missed , so sorry x

Thanks scallywag, feline patient absolutely fed up being stuffed with meds & more importantly being kept in but he's a good boy & still taking the meds. Human patient is back to badly coughing & spluttering stage, must have gone back to work too quickly!!

Such a shame that Roman wasn't better enough to go to the kennels and is still likely to be infectious. I think it was kind of your neighbour to offer to look after the cats if you go on holiday but, if your like me, you wouldn't have a minute free from worrying about them. No one can look after them like us!!

Exactly lotsofcats The good news is that Roman got his release orders from the vet today - no more incarceration in our hospital ward but that & being allowed out is different from the cattery taking him in with a lot of other people's cats. Even though there shouldn't be any cross contamination between the pens I suppose there could be through the staff & their clothing etc. Too much of a risk for them to take. Which I also appreciate for when our cats are there. No more meds especially the eye drops which Roman hated but only tried to avoid rather than fight it. Of all of our cats he is the best at taking meds (thank goodness) This week I missed putting a tablet down his throat & it fell on the chair so he picked it up & ate it!!! He even licks the Loxicom syringe before & after he's given it He still has to have a capsule a day of the supplement for his liver so that he's had it for a month. But after that unless there are signs of illness they're not going to take any more bloods or worry about his slight liver enzyme variance. When I told the vet Roman happily took the liver supplement capsules he was really surprised. I didn't give him eye drops when I went to bed last night & once I was in bed Roman got up on the footstool (the one we had for Penny to get on the bed) talking to me, investigating the top of the bedside cabinet. The treats he got after any meds were in the drawer. I gave him a few & he came up on the bed & settled on me for a short while, but Osiris was on the bed Roman was rather wary & went to sleep elsewhere. The treats aren't really treats just the Kibble I got at the Supreme last yearn (& subsequently re-ordered small bags of the various flavours) but then found Lexie couldn't have it as it was too high in fat for her illness this year even though the vet said any cat would love the smell when I got her to look at the ingredients (I always knew Osiris wasn't a normal cat!!! ). The current flavour is Reindeer Roman will be disappointed when he doesn't get them at various times in the day any more (I did reduce his normal kibble to compensate for them) Typically he's been incarcerated for nearly 2 weeks, avoiding the winds, but now he's allowed out it's tipping it down. He's been out twice around his territory (I recorded both outings on his GPS locator) the 2nd time was after the rain started so was rather wet when he came back. He's gone out again this evening & I've just set the track mode on again so We'll see where is going. Just hope we don't have to go & look for him or Osiris as its still raining. One more piece of good news is the vet didn't charge for today & I was able to return the remaining 6 antibiotic tablets (in a blister pack) & as they only had 6 of the liver capsules the vets landed up owing me money, well only until I pick up or & pay fthe rest of the supplement capsules, they'll be in the vets tomorrow
