Morning All I offer an emergency Pet Ambulance 24 hours 7 days a week, this is a new venture and only just got set up, I am a vet nurse and the van is kitted out with oxygen and other essential equipment. I would be grateful if folks here on this forum could assist me with something, our prices will reflect time of call out and location. However, I would value your comments if you could let me know what prices would you would expect to pay for a professional pet service such as the pet ambulance. Thanking you all in advance

I live in Holland and recently used a pet ambulance when one of my cats had to go to the vet. As contributor I paid 25 euro; others pay 50. I don't know if the distance counts. Every city has its own ambulance, so they don't have to drive far. Good luck. It's a good initiative.

I'm not sure about the medical equipment need as most people wouldn't even know if that was necessary for the journey to the vets & if they had their own transport would probably get to the vets in the time it took you to arrive at their home but the basic pet transport definitely has its niche. I personally wouldn't have a need for such a service - have car can travel. However I can see that for those without easy access to transport, such as the elderly, disabled etc., it could be useful. If the service was prepared to catch a hiding (indoor) cat or that won't go in a carrier easily then that would be a bonus. Despite what I said at the start, having someone qualified with you when going to the vets in illness etc, situations would be a boon for those needing a transport service. As to cost that's a difficult one. There has to be some set service fee (perhaps for a radius around your base) with an additional mileage fee (or an agreed amount) for journeys outside of your area. After all you couldn't be expected to travel from John O'Groats to Lands End for the same fee as 1 mile down the road! As to actual costs, then it has to relate to taxi fares, as this is the alternative in the scenarios I described, with some addition for the additional services (vet nurse, cat catching etc.) Good luck in your new business lorrainervn

Just an idea, mint would be good if your service could accept bank cards as often people in an emergency won't have lots of cash on them (especially on the way to a potentially costly vet appointment). It is commonplace here in Berlin to send a bill for things (including getting the human ambulance if they haven't bothered to send it to your insurance company, heh heh) but I'm not sure if the pet ambulance offers that service. The vet does if you don't have any money on you which I find very useful for some people and I have used that service once when I completely forgot my purse. I don't think that's that common in the uk though.
