Animals I love: Cats
Pets I own: Have always had cats as far as I can remember. Currently the owners of a Tabby kitten called "Ringo". He was born Weds 29/04/2015 & we got him Thursday 18/06/2015. He's just over 3 months old at time of writing. He is light grey with black Tiger stripes & he has black rings around his tail & back legs, hence the name "Ringo". Nothing to do at all about The Beatles. Now he has started to develop a beigey colour in his coat, & in some photos & different light, for some reason seems to have a slight orangey/ginger colour.
He's a right character, always friendly & loving & happy to see us, always following us around the house, always charging around & playing with his toys & stalking anything that moves, & then when he gets tired, jumps up for a fuss. Couldn't ask for a better cat. He's perrrfect.

That was one of the concerns I said to Cheryl earlier. When we gave him his tea earlier, he almost finished a whole Whiskers Kitten pouch (he's never quite finished one) and then had a good drink from his fountain, so it's nice to know that he is eating & drinking like he normally does & hasn't had any loss of appetite.

4 weeks does seem like a long time, but we'll get there, especially with all the support. I was just going through Ringo's photos & found another one (5th August) showing he likes to sprawl out, even on your lap when he wants a fuss. He does like his chest stroked as well. He wasn't impressed when I stopped stroking him to take this photo though lol.

Hope the diarrhoea stops quickly as you say a (temporary) reaction to the meds or a little stress at all that has happened along with the incarceration. Good luck at the vets' visit. Great photos

Arrrr so sorry I am just having a catch up(: welcome to the forum (: I have a 5 month old rescue kitten called Freddy, he is in to everything at the moment. Ringo is very handsome (:so pleased that you we're able to find the money for him to have the surgery and he looks like he is doing OK. Our furbabies are such a worry.and can be quite costly. How is Ringo doing today (:

Morning hows the little tiger ? Did he have a better dry night He had a much dryer night tonight thankyou. He's also stopped sleeping in his litter tray. Instead he laid down on the newspaper instead of his bedding, so I covered all the newspaper with another blanket we have. That worked & he would have had a more comfortable night too. We gave him some biscuits & a little bit of water in one of his double bowls for over night tucked in a corner furthest away from his litter tray. There was even some water left in the bowl this morning. It has the signs of him having a better night. We let him out for an hour for his breakfast & a drink & a fuss but had to back in for the morning so we could get some work done in the house. He was good as gold just laying on his blankets watching us or sleeping. We let him out again at 12 & we got him to lay on the sofa again. I think he might be learning that he has to either lay on the sofa or go in the cage because it was easy & he didn't try to get off. We've not long come back from seeing Andrei (surgeon), who is very happy so far. Ringo wasn't happy at all & I had to take him by the scruff & try talking calmly to him while Andrei took out the padding & had a good look at his pins. I really felt sorry for him because he has his painkiller once a day at 1pm or just after with his lunch & his appointment was at 1pm. I kept thinking what if his painkiller might be wearing off. But after a moments growling session, I could let him go & make a fuss of him to try & calm his temper down. Didn't have to put any more padding under the blue cover as the swelling had gone down nicely, the pins were looking good, the incisions were healing well, there was no discharge, & he was scabbing nicely. Andrei was also happy with the way Ringo was putting some weight on his leg when he walked around the surgery. We mentioned that Ringo had developed some diarrhea, but it wasn't like if someone has an upset stomach & has to go all the time, & it wasn't like water. It was that when he did use his litter tray, it was very runny. Andrei said it sounds like it 's probably not his medication. He said that cats normally have that after effect after having a general anesthetic. But of course keep an eye on it just in case. We are to keep giving him his Metacam once a day until Sunday. Sunday is to be his last of that but we are to keep giving him his Trazodone once a day. We asked what it was for & Andrei said it was to calm him down. He said Ringo hated everyone there after his operation. They all liked him & called him cute & handsome, but the nurses called him "boisterous" & Andrei called him "very lively because of the Bengal in him". You can tell the Bengal from the attitude & the spots he has on his backend & up his back. We think it gives him a personality & character. Normally, before his accident, he was always happy, always playing with his toys & pouncing on anything that moves. He would hide behind corners & wait for you to walk past before jumping out on your leg (no claws) & running off with a half Bambi bounce. Some pictures trying to show his spots & stipes. We got Ringo home about 2pm & wanted him to eat something so we could give him his meds, but typical, he wasn't hungry. We soon changed his mind. Cheryl opened a tin of tuna & he wasn't going to turn that down. Only had a little struggle from him but got both syringes down him, put him on the sofa, made a fuss of him & he's been there since. There was me thinking he was learning & being such a good boy, when really, he's just "drugged up to the eye balls" lol, well I think he's been a good boy anyway. He hasn't even tried to pull the blue cover off the pin lock or tried biting his pins or anything. We would have hated having to put one of those lamp shade things on him. We've got one just in case. So, it's all good news so far. If Andrei's (surgeon) happy, we're happy. We have asked for his post op xrays so we can show exactly what he had done. They said they will send us an email with them in but can't say if it will be today or Monday. I've just looked round to see Ringo & he's still fast asleep on the sofa, brilliant. The less we have to cage him the better we feel, we didn't adopt him to cage him, but understand the need to for his own good if needs be. It's funny how humans can get so emotionally attached to their pets.

Excellent news glad he is getting along well and also behaving. Maybe the calming of him was very necessary, I'm sure he is enjoying all the sleep

We just had to let Ringo down to use his litter tray & it's still very loose but not running down the whole he dug like it was earlier. So it's got a bit better & he still had his meds earlier. Now he's finishing off the tuna.
