Glad to hear Carlotta's home safe, even if still very wobbly. I remember seeing Penny just like that after her last ketamine sedation (not full GA) earlier this year. It took her until after midnight to really stop staggering. Hope Carlotta recovers sooner Fingers crossed for the blood test results.

Haha looks like Carlotta will be the same then! She actually recovered fairly quickly last time, but she was really weak this morning before the operation so that can't have helped. I'm really glad I got the operation moved to today instead of waiting till next week.
And thanks, really nervous about then but hopefully everything is okay.

Carlotta is desperate to eat and I stupidly out Rosas food down at the same time as Miezes (Rosa doesn't get in the room till after the cats) but it's tripe and Mieze has been put off her food too by the smell and hidden under the couch. Poor Carlotta would happily scoff the lot by the looks of it.

Aaaw bless her, hope she will be able to enjoy her food now,she must have got very weak,so will be feeling very wobbly after her opp.I used to think eating etc helped get rid of the after effects of the anaesthetic, but maybe not after all. They worry us sick.Fingers crossed the blood test results are not too much to worry about.

Sounds like Carlotta is feeling a bit better if she's interested in food again

Waiting on the phone to hear about Carlotta's blood test. I am worried because she went to get the vet to explain it to me so maybe that means somethings up? Hmm...

They want me to take her in again on Monday because although most things were okay with the bloods, a few things were a bit low and the vet was worried about how pale her gums were on Wednesday and the blood test hasn't really explained that so she wants to see her again. The vet on the phone said she will be in tomorrow from 17 to 18 (good to know as most vets are shut on Sunday's!) so if Carlotta is still not eating tomorrow then I can bring her in to get her seen to quicker. She said possibly the electrolytes etc are low simply because Carlotta hasn't been eating due to her teeth as opposed to any underlying issue.
Hopefully Carlotta will be eating more as today goes on anyway with her small meals throughout the day, and hopefully that will get her feeling a lot better. She clearly wants to eat, last night she was sitting in the hall with Mieze waiting to be fed and rushed to the food when I put it down, but she seemed to still have trouble eating it. After her last operation when she got a bad tooth taken out, she was eating again normally the day after.
Ach, I'm so worried about her!!!

smilesbetter, It's possible that Carlotta is nauseous (for some reason) as soon as she smells food & that might be stopping her eating. although you describe it as difficulty eating as though its the process that the problem. I hope she eats soon & you don't have to take her in on Sunday. Did they say which results they were concerned about?

Hmm I don't think so tonib as she does chew at the food a bit. She just licked at it tonight and we tried giving her it blended with water (looks like pink yogurt) but still no luck. I've put that in the fridge for now and will keep trying, and if we've had no luck by 1630 then I'll take her back to the vets for their Sunday opening times and get her checked out again. If she does eat it that way then she's going to the vets on Monday anyway. I'm so worried about her! She's so weak and she usually absolutely loves her meals, it's like she's giving up now. Well they said the electrolytes were a bit low as well as "a few other things" but the main issue was that the vet had noticed before giving Carlotta back the other day that her gums were very pale and she was worried about that. Her gums are usually really pale though, so either that's just normal for her (she is a pure white cat with very pale skin) or it's been something she's always had wrong with her. Hopefully it is simply that she is just like me and is naturally freakishly pale (the amount of times people say to me "wow, are you usually that pale!?"...). It wasn't too easy to understand the lady on the phone either unfortunately as I have a cold and today has been the sore, ringing ears day and she was saying veterinary terms quickly in German. It will be good to see the vet in person and get a copy of the results myself too (oh yep, I'm that person haha). Plus to be completely honest I am terrified that Carlotta isn't going to last much longer, she has hardly eaten in four or five days now and she is so ill she hasn't even been to the toilet or even left the living room (although I noticed when I got her from the vets that there was soiled puppy pads in the cage with her so I assume she has urinated a few days ago). She has been drinking water though thankfully. If she hadn't done that either I think I'd be pouring food down her throat myself. I'd try syringing it but I don't know what I'm doing, we tried once before with water when she was dehydrated and it didn't work at all, and I don't want to make things worse than they already are. If she doesn't eat this puréed watery food I will pack it up and take it to the vets tomorrow with her for if they want to put a tube down her throat and feed her that way, because all they have is science plan and she does not do well on science plan, and the last thing we want is her throwing it back up.

I must admit I'd get her back to the vets tomorrow regardless of eating, if she hasn't urinated despite drinking.

Well she's definitely going back to the vets today, she's not eating or grooming, she tried to have a go on her scratcher earlier and then just fell off backwards. And yeah I said about the not urinating to her yesterday but she wanted me to give it a day and see if there was any improvement since it was so soon after the op. The vet seemed keen for her to come in today though. Wish they opened earlier I'm going mad here! I mean the food I have been offering her is just chopped chicken which has been blended with water, it looks like strawberry yogurt. I even put a bit on her chin to get her to lick it off and see it's tasty but she's not even done that.
To be honest I'm preparing myself for her saying they'll have to out her down although hopefully they can do something to help her. It's so horrible knowing she's in pain and giving up and not being able to do anything to help her. Why do the vets here have such stupid opening times too?! Glad these ones are open on Sunday at all.

Also I've left a blanket of Rosas out in the living room for Carlotta to pee on if she needs (she has done on this one before) and there's been nothing yet. Unless she's been using the litter trays at night while I've been asleep then no she's not urinated !!!!

Thanks cazypops I'm so nervous about the vet visit! Still 2 hours to go before they even open, although we will go a bit early as they often open the waiting room early and we wanna get seen asap. They are only open for an hour on Sunday! Better than most vets here though and since the vet told me to come in today if she had't eaten then we should have no trouble getting seen to.
