Well thought it was about time for an update. We have been very busy and have some sad news to start off with.
Firstly the home we had lined up for Shelby has fallen through. The lady had messed ourselves around in regards to kittens/cats that we had and is now getting 2 siblings from another litter at another rescue. So Shelby is now back up for rehoming.
Mack our wee Bengal boy has sadly crossed to rainbow bridge. Despite all of the tests and bloodworks that were carried out, we were unable to save him. It was found he had a cancerous tumour behind his eyes which is why he was blind and why they were in such a poor state. The vet believes he has been suffering for quite some time and that there was nothing we could have done for him by the time we were contacted and took him into care as he was already far too gone. The cancer had already affected other areas and sadly when we got him, he had already started showing signs of renal failure. He passed away in his foster mums arms at approx 10am on the 31st July
We also sadly lost one of Ferns kittens. 2 of the kittens are large and very healthy, whereas 2 of them were small, half the size of their litter mates and appeared to have problems. Sadly little Thistle passed away after having a fit. The wee soul just wasnt strong enough.
His sister who was also one of the tiny kittens has made so much progress and has so much determination for such a tiny girl. She could not walk, could not hold her head up, could not do anything. She has thrown herself into it all and is now even using the litter tray (although it takes her some time to get there) and eating kitten food. She has been diagnosed as having a medium case of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, so she is very unstable on her feet and falls over more than normal, she also has a wobbly head but she is certainly a little fighter and is not letting her problems get in her way.
On a lighter note, here are some photos of Ferns remaining kittens. You will see just how tiny Pixie is compared to her litter mates
We also took in another kitten of around 6-8 weeks old who was found behind a bin store. He was a tiny wee thing and was in a poor condition. He was covered in fleas and was a soaking wet wee kitten that just looked scruffy. After a vet visit and some TLC he is now a gorgeous wee boy. He is very playful and so full of character. He gets on great with the other little ones from Ferns litter and appears to now be best buds with Rowan who is the wee tabby and white boy
What we found strange about Paka is that he is the spitting image of Shelby
And here is a photo of Shelby so that you can see how much he looks like her
We have also got Fluffy heading off to a new home in approx 2 weeks time when he receives his last vaccination. We still have Poppy in care, Sapphire has made a massive improvement (will try get a photo later) and looks so much better. She loooks like a different cat now, has even grown a little in size and her coat is now so soft and looks beautiful. Fantastic news is that Sapphire is now able to move forward and be spayed as she has gained enough weight. Fern is now being prepared for her spaying so we can put her up for rehoming, although we do have interest in her already so I dont think she will be in care long.
We also have these 2 wee souls who came in 2 nights ago. Misty and Marley had to come in as their owner was moving and was unable to take them to the new home. She was offering them as free to a good home and with her female being unspayed there were quite a number of unsavoury characters asking to take her. A lady I had previously rehomed a cat to offered to take them and put the girl in touch with ourselves to get them to safety and to ensure they were given all of the proper treatment before rehoming. Marley is very timid whereas Misty is quite confident.
I think I have covered everything now in regards to updates. Hopefully will have some fab news of cats going off to new homes next time I update
