I havent updated everyone in a while so I thought I would give you an update and show you the new cats in care
*SHELBY*
Shelby is now ready to go off to her new home. This will be a trial period to see how she gets on in her new home. She hasnt gone off to her new home quite yet as her new owners are on holiday so we are arranging for her to go to them when they get back
*POPPY*
Poppy is nearly ready to go off to a new home. She has had a potential new home enquire about her, so we will be getting her spayed and chipped and also conducting a home visit to see if the home will be suitable for her. Fingers crossed we have found her forever home. If we are happy to rehome her to them, she will be off to them in about 2-3 weeks time.
*SAPPHIRE*
This is the little Chocolate Point Ragdoll cross we have in care. Still building up her body weight but she has improved dramatically since coming in to us. She is now becoming far more confident too which is great to see, especially as she had been very scared and timid originally. Still in care and a long way off being rehomed but we have had so many offers of homes for her that we wont have trouble rehoming her.
*MITTENS*
Mittens is still with us at this moment in time. She now has a pen waiting for her at the other rescue, so she will be heading off to them in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully they can work some magic on her and get her to come out of her shell and become the loving wee girl we know is hiding behind her aggressive front.
We have taken in 3 cats since and they are gorgeous little souls.
*MACK*
Mack is an 11 year old Bengal male who has been straying for 2 years. e went in search of his owners as he clearly had owners at some point. We found them and it turns out he belonged to a frail old lady who sadly has dementia. Her son had said he was taking the cat to be put to sleep as his mother was not caring for the cat the way she used to, so his owner had let him out as she couldnt face him being put to sleep. Hes a timid wee boy, has an ulcerated eye that will need to be removed and has just had blood works done as the vet believes he has something else medically wrong with him that needs addressed.
The gentleman who had found him and taken him in had tried to find the owners with no luck so had stated he was also going to have the cat put to sleep. His friend didnt think that was fair and had contacted ourselves. We stepped in to get this boy into care and get him the treatment he needs. We now have a fab home lined up for him with a lady who has experience in the Bengal breed, experience with fostering cats and of cats with an array of medical conditions. She lives in Aberdeenshire and has a big house with over 80 cats both feral and domestic that she cares for. She has the financial stability also which is great and is more than happy to take him on.
*FERN & KITTENS*
This wee girl is only 6 months old and is already a mummy Her "owner" contacted cats protection as her cat was not feeding the kittens when they were born (they were now a week old). Cats protection were unable to help so we offered our assistance. She wanted the cat and kittens to be taken into care as she couldnt afford to keep them, she also did not want mum cat back after. When we got them they were all riddled with fleas and worms.
We then received abusive messages 2 days later asking for the mum and kittens back. I agreed but stated that I required the full amount paid to us that was already used to pay for treatment and vet costs of the cat and kittens. She refused, stated she didnt have that sort of money, etc. We later found out from her son that this woman had already (within the first few days of the kittens being born) taken payment for the kittens from people who wanted to rehome them!! They wanted us to rehome the kittens to these homes free of charge, yet, were still expecting us to fork out over £700 worth of veterinary care and treatment??!! They were set straight and told that under no circumstances would these kitten be given to just anyone because they had paid and under no circumstances would they be given away free as we would be out of pocket and are not a charity for people who cant afford to care for their animals. Havent heard from them since and I hope I never do again as the ladies attitude and mouth was vile. The language was disgusting to say the least.
Good news is that these little ones are staying in our rescue and will be cared for. Mother cat will be spayed as soon as she is ready. Utterly appalled that someone would allow a kitten of that age to get pregnant and for them to think it was okay.
The kittens have been named Rowan, Thistle, Orchid and Azalea
This is Rowan and we absolutely love his markings as it looks like he has a cat on his back!
*BETTY*
This little girl was also a stray cat. Despite trying to trace her owners no one was found so we took her in. Still looking for her owners via our missing pet page so hopefully her owners will be traced as she is such an affectionate and loving little soul so someone must be missing her.
