Took Roman back to the vets this afternoon as he finishes the antibiotic course this evening. Saw a different vet this time - the same one who drained his big abscess in April. First the vet cleaned it & removed a small bit of skin - it had stuck to the cleaning material!! - Ouch number 1! It looks like there is no abscess any more but it has ulcerated so is a an open wound now & needed a bit of extra help to heal properly. So the vet stapled it. Roman jerked as the first staple went in - Ouch number 2! As a result it didn't go in right & had to be removed & the next 2 were fine - Ouch number 3!! All done without any local anaesthetic Another 5 days of antibiotics & Metacam. The final news was that he has to go back in about 10 days to have the staples removed & no going out until then. The biggest ouch of them all from Roman's perspective!!!! He'll be stir crazy by the time he is allowed out after nearly 3 weeks being kept in.

BIG BRAVE ROMAN! I think these ginger cats are tough! Like you say, the biggest ouch is the staying in - another 10 days at least.

Thanks everyone. You're right there lotsofcats. aaww poor Roman Big ouch just means even bigger hugs and special treats Oh yes King prawns after medicines & cleaning - he loves his prawns Lexie can may have a 1/2 but Osiris & Penny don't like them so no problems there. Luckily Tesco sells them loose so I buy just enough so they don't need freezing - bought 9 tonight so he had 3 this evening, he'll get 3 in the morning & the other 3 in the evening. We've got some frozen ones but oddly he doesn't seem to like them even at room temperature although he'll eat prawns straight from the fridge normally. Poor Roman, and poor tonib and hubby having to put up with the wrath of Roman for TEN whole days. thank goodness he's good about it although he really does want to be out. He & I watched an new cat appear in the close this morning - a lovely Felix look-a-like with a blue collar - don't know where it belongs, hopefully it won't cause any agro, Osiris was out but I didn't see or hear any arguements.
