I follow Omar because of what he does with his dogs - they're amazing and a huge source of inspiration for Millie and I!
However, today he uploaded a video of one of his cats! Thought you cat people might like to see it - it's brilliant!

That's pretty amazing. Just shows you how intelligent cats are.
I have taught my Dexter to sit on command, lay down and also to jump up by simply saying "up" But he doesnt appear to be interested in learning anything else lol

Haag that's great. I've taught all my cats to sit on command and Smudgie & Carlotta actually almost always come when called but that's about it. Would love to train them to high five!

Aww! Sit's clever! Since training Millie I've had the urge to see if I could train a cat - it would be a challenge! I wouldn't even know where to start to be honest - even for sit! People always say they'd never leave their animals with me because when they come back they'd be standing on their head...

Thanks for posting that video milliepup04 its lovely to watch & of course its a ginger boy doing the work - they do seem to enjoy themselves & are happy to talk to you Aww! Sit's clever! Since training Millie I've had the urge to see if I could train a cat - it would be a challenge! I wouldn't even know where to start to be honest - even for sit! People always say they'd never leave their animals with me because when they come back they'd be standing on their head... Sadly with us the animals are doing the training, though not yet got us doing the headstands!!!

People always say they'd never leave their animals with me because when they come back they'd be standing on their head... Sit is easy, I trained all mine to do it by waiting for them to sit before being fed and doing clicker noises when they did. For the first week maybe it would take ages before they finally sat down but eventually they all got it. Mieze also sits on her back feet and reaches up and taps the bowl, I never taught that though, she's just greedy and is wanting to grab the bowl. It looks great though and everyone thinks I'm a cat training genius till I fess up. My cat Smudgie used to play fetch too, but again it was just her and nothing to do with training. She just always brought the toy onto the couch to "kill" after she caught it haha so it was essentially a game of fetch I really wanna get a kitten again one day and train it up, although I suppose I could train these three with time. The main thing is keeping them motivated. Cats are really really good at completely ignoring you haha.

Aww Ebony stands on her back legs when I have a piece of food that I'm going to give her and tell her "up". Tigger does it as well but without any words being said - if I try telling her "up" I get a lights-are-on-but-nobody-is-home type response Oh and Ebony understands "off" to mean jump down from the table, but in the case of "off" she only obeys when she wants to, not the moment we tell her to jump off the table

What a cute cuddly cat. I think most animals can be trained.
