I noticed that Kai Ruki has been dribbling a lot again recently and I have felt a swelling on his jaw again, not as big as before, but definitely there. I phoned the vets this morning to ask if I could just have the same antibiotics as I had for him last time as his symptoms are exactly the same. I have to ring them back late this afternoon or in the morning to see if the vet has agreed, if not I will take him in for a consultation on Saturday morning. Kai Ruki has just started to put on weight after he was ill in November. He is eating so much - at least 3 sachets of food and lots and lots of Whiskas cheese treats - anything to fatten him up a bit! He is not distressed in any way and has even been lying next to Kiba Khan a few times. Ladt time the antibiotics worked quickly and the swelling had gone down in 3 days.

What did the vets say lotsofcats? Hope it clears up quickly again. Luckily the vet has let me have antibiotics without having to see Kai Ruki. He gets so stressed when he goes to the vets. I have to pick the tablets up when I finish work early this afternoon. Last night was strange, Blackberry jumped up on the sofa where Kai Ruki was asleep, licked his face and then cuddled up to him and went to sleep.

Good news about being able to get the antibiotics without putting Kai Ruki through a vet visit. Its odd isn't it how cats can pick up on the signs of things not being quite right. How nice of Blackberry to give Kai Ruki a comforting cuddle Hope the meds do the trick.

If the meds work as quickly as the last time, he will be better by Tuesday. Good luck, Kai Ruki.

Hope all settles down. Perhaps I'm worrying for you but get licked may be something to keep an eye on. We've all heard stories of animals detecting diseases.

Yes, I thought the same thing so I am keeping an eye of him. I've always had a feeling about Kai Ruki not being a well cat - he wasn't well when I had him from the breeder and made my other cats ill at the time. He breathes very fast and I keep mentioning it to the vet during his check ups but they say his heart is okay. I don't know what it is - call it intuition - I just feel he won't live to a good age.
Kai Ruki is much better today, I can still feel the lump a bit but he has stopped dribbling so much. He is now starting to put on some weight and is eating really well. Blackberry is still lying next to him in the night.

Awwww (((HUGS))) I know what you mean when you just get a feeling about one of your cats ~ I've had that bond a couple of times in the past with certain cats...George and the original Lily Hopefully your Mummy Intuition will be wrong this time (((HUGS))) Perhaps Blackberry lying next to him is just her being very loving towards him because she knows he's under the weather and needs a bit of comforting company? One of my previous PARRT fosters, Thomas, would actively seek out new cats and lie close to them and I'll swear his calmness helped the new cat relax and settle in....just as Hattie did with baby Amber

I hope that my Mummy Intuition is wrong too!
Some cats are very sensitive to the needs of other cats in their household and Blackberry is a very loving cat - she is a naughty tortie (although her sister Willow is often naughtier)but such a loving little cat. I noticed that you had a Lily before - isn't it funny how we often use names we've used before. I'm on my 2nd Willow, I had 2 dogs named Sacha, 2 cats named Kimberley and 2 cats named Lucy. The same named cats were the same colour but the dogs were different breeds and colouring.
