Flirts is well on the road to recovery, and I suspect he's also enjoying his little butter treats too.

He'll expect buttery treats all the time now Good tip about crushing the pills BUT always check with the vet first that they CAN be crushed Previous fosters of mine have been on medication which I crushed and mixed into their food (Nina's epilepsy ones spring to mind) but the Felimazole that Hattie is currently on MUST be given whole I think certain medications are designed to be slow release over a set time and crushing them reduces their efficiency. Glad Flirty's abscess has burst and is healing up ok. One of my first cats, Charlie, got bitten above his tail and ended up with one almighty abscess

Flirts is fully recovered now. He still has 5 more days antibiotics to take, but other than that he's back to normal. Your right about the slow release @gillykat, If these sort of tables are crushed then if I remember right they release the meds too quickly and can overdose.

Thats a good point @gillykat never gave that a thought x Just years and years of fostering oldies who more often than not need various medications every day...you get used to asking the vet whether it can be crushed or not Hattie's become quite good at letting me pop a pill down her throat three time a day now and I always follow it up with a few dreamies as a treat
