Well I seem to have a head cold and feel spacey so not in a good way and then this evening Mr Ruppee came through the cat flap with dried blood down his face and on his chest. He's been quiet and off his food a bit so I think I will have to get him to the vet's tomorrow. I will see how he is in the morning.

Awwww hope everything is ok and he's just been munching on a mouse or something (hence the blood) Definitely see how he is first thing and take him in to the vets if you are even in THE TINIEST BIT OF DOUBT!!! Best to have the vet examine him and find nothing wrong than ignore it and have something major develop. ((((HUGS))))

Thanks everyone. He is off to the vet's this evening for a precautionary antibiotic jab and probably a painkilling one too. He was quiet and sorry for himself this morning. He'll be fine x.

Yeah according to the vet his temp was up and his right gland was swollen. He got an antibiotic jab and mummy got sent home with painkillers,. He'S a lot brighter and happier today. He didn't like the locum vet and i didn't either. We're back on Monday to check his temp is coming down.

Any idea what it could have been? Know what you mean about not liking a vet - it's only happened to me twice in all the years. Once when the vet got impatient at having to wait for us to bring Molly in after a blood clot caused paralysis in her hind legs. He said we could bring her in after 4pm (it was 10.30am when she collapsed!) but I insisted and said we were on our way! It only held him back ten/fifteen minutes but oh, his attitude!!! Arrogant piece of turd - no sympathy for the fact that Molly had to be PTS Even if he was the cheapest vet in town I would NEVER go back to him...and Linda from PARRT knows my feelings on him She said he's a touch OCD and hates folk being late but this WAS an emergency. The other was a female vet at my previous surgery. One of my oldies was definitely moping after losing their companion but she poo-poohed this and said cats didn't form attachments as they're not a pack animal like dogs I just looked at her and thought ''You've never lived with cats before have you!'' I made sure I only saw Adam or David after that! Very nice chatty vets at our new surgery who DO understand cats

Glad to read Rupee is improving with the meds. Those cat bits/scratches don't half cause havoc!

Hmm. Well mister has a swollen right side of face and the top of his head is swollen too. We have a week's worth worth of Antibiotics and another check up next Monday What I do not understand is why he was given a 48 hour jab but nothing for the Sunday night to Monday period. I think it's allowed the infection to take hold so I'm not happy. Poor thing looks quite miserable.
She said as there's not much flesh at the top of a cat's head and there's a possibility that the skull could have been scratched !!!
We're having a quiet night with him on the stairs and me watching Amelie.
