Lot of talk on here about dog poo.
There are enough rule regulations around the country to cover this.
Is not about time the people responsible for these rules enforced them.
I have never seen a dog warden/council official around to spot & enforce the poo rules.
How about next time you read about the latest poo idea ask the question: What have you been done in the past to prevent it?
Sadly it is part of current society that regrettably has to be tolerated...Same as Mums that leave dirty nappies on the park/beech, others that leave bottles/pizza boxes/rubbish on the ground...
Walk past moan to self and get on with your life as unfortunately it will only get worse.
Or You could always pick it up your self.

Yeah you could pick up after other people and hubby & I have, poop and rubbish BUT why should we. I bet that's what all the people who leave it there are thinking ..... "Oh Someone else will do it"?? Councils need to get their thumbs out of their Butts and put money into tidying up places, bring back dog wardens and get community officers to patrol all areas no matter how big or small.

Couple of weeks ago the schools around here laminated a lovely photo of a Fairy holding a poop bag, the saying on it was ... There's no such thing as a Dog Poo Fairy, These were plastered all over the lamp posts and fences, thought it was a really good idea, someone took them down thou after a couple of days

That's a good idea scallywag, love the poster though I wonder if it made any difference or pricked anyone's conscience, especially if they were taken down after a couple of days. i don't have a dog poo fairy since I do it myself i do have a fairy for everything else though! (I do all that too though, it's just for the other halfs benefit..."o look the dish washer fairy has been" etc etc

Why should I pick up after other peoples dogs?! What an odd comment to make.
I live in a small village in the Highlands. We rely on tourism to keep going, its the only income we get. Yet the number of tourists I speak to who mention the dog mess all over the roads, paths, beaches, streets etc is actually quite amazing. I have never seen a dog owning tourist leave dog mess. It's locals who are the real problem. There's around 40 dogs in my village, I know of 6 who get picked up after.
People need to be more responsible, but its not my job to clean up after other peoples dogs.

I would never pick up someone else's dog poo - its wrong and not my responsibility! I completely agree SarahHound I also think that the council never do a good job of the litter or dog poo situations. A lot of the poo bins in my area take about 1 month to fill up and I have noticed that it mostly has my poo bags in instead of other peoples! The council don't keep to their word either - no one ever gets fined for leaving dog poo even though they claim it will happen and because they don't, the problem has increased across the country! I just completely avoid places that are full of dog poo - not worth walking my dog in a dog poo filled place, disgusting!

I'm glad I live where a do, if your caught not picking up you will be find and if your caught with your dog off lead you will also be find, and in a few cases prosecuted. Well done South Ribble Council.
Just out of curiosity akitalover99 how do you know they are just your bags, do you open them to check? Other people may use the same bags as you. I personally use nappy bags, they are just as good do the same job and are half the price, I also know other people who use them too.

Mine have Westies, dog bins and bones shapes on . I get them online I just notice it when I use the bin - I don't mean all the bins just a certain one. It always has the same bags in as me and if other people used it then it wouldn't take 1 month or more to fill close to the top?!?! The fields and paths and everywhere else wouldn't be covered in dog poo either. I don't stand and stare in the dog bin. I have better things to be doing thanks. To not allow dogs off the lead is very wrong - they need off run exercise, especially certain breeds, your council should certainly not have that law in my opinion and I m sure others would agree with me. If I couldn't let my dogs off the lead - I would be making serious complaints and would be very angry.

We seem to have a few debates going on . Love it LOL so on the note of dogs off lead, I hate it when people totally ignore the fact that when someone has their dog on a lead, and their dog comes sniffing around ours, they don't call it back, Beau is a friendly dog, but he only puts up with the sniffing for so long, then he gets agitated and growls, sometimes snaps, makes me look like a bad owner, when infact it is the others that are irresponsible, must remember to carry with me the spray can of citronella my sister gave me

And what happens if dogs are allergic or it is badly effective to animals and dogs in the community? This spray thing. People need to think hard about it. I call my dogs back to me and get them on their leads or just at least hold them while dogs are walking past - just in case. Charlie Boy is the same as Beau but it depends on how the other dog's body language and attitude is towards him .

As for the off lead rule it's ok in the park but not on roads and pathways. I too would be up in arms if Jasper was unable to run off lead. That would lead to all sorts of behavioral problem. Hope I haven't offended.

Don't apologize! No need! Sorry if I came across harsh, its just because I didn't put smilies I think and I always do! . Oh, well, people are allowed to have dogs off leas by roads but I never do and I feel very angry when I see owners letting their dogs run about next to roads - especially young and bouncy ones who want to meet everyone on the other side!! I witnessed a Border Collie who got ran over last year because it was off the lead by a road, he survived but he did get hit full force by a truck - his left, hind leg was amputated because of it and the owners only let him off in the fields. Again, never apologize, I don't get offended, I take everyone's opinions on board and respect them!

I have skim read the thread. I have occasionally lost a poo when one dog goes one way and the other the other and there is a fair distance between the two and unfortunately my spotting has not worked . So when this happens I do pick someone elses up to even the score!! However I do not think I should have to regularly clear up after other peoples dogs. If someone did it blatantly in front of me I would offer them a bag. I am as sick with peoples general rubbish to be honest (bottles, cans etc).
