I sometimes think I should just make a thread called "Carlotta's Problems"...
Carlotta has started getting bald patches on the inside of her front legs which I would assume are from over grooming, although I've never caught her at it. She has also recently started chewing cardboard, so I wondered if it was to do with that. It's not only cardboard, she tries to chew wires too. She has no obvious mouth problems though so I think that it's cause her diet requires no chewing.
I have bought her tiny dog chew ropes and a bit of one of those antler things, as I know she also likes chewing wood but didn't want her chewing something that could splinter, but no avail. I've also finally found poultry scissors and got her some chicken wings which I am going to be chopping up for her today. I had been planning doing this for a while as the intention has always been to get her on full home prepared raw. Anyway what I mean is, I'm hoping that this will satisfy her chewing needs. Saying that, she ate wet cat meat before and was never like this, and it's not much musher than her cat raw complete haha.
That's my only guess for the bald patches though, I can't see any sign of parasites and I haven't noticed any other changes recently other than a friend coming to stay for a bit (he's still here) but she's been perching on top of him at nights sometimes and treating him like one of us, as she does with any guest. Oh, and a week or so ago I got loads of mosquito bites (even one on the bottom of my foot, there are only swear words to describe those wee...) and they can bit pets too, but biting her on the inside of her legs would be kinds weird. I suppose the hair is shorter there, but I'd have thought they'd go for the outside of her legs and head then. shs does sometimes sleep with her legs stretched out in front of her so I suppose that could be it. There are a few dots on the patches but that could be from her nipping the skin too, in any case they don't look like mosquito bites.
So, any ideas?
