Is this a regime set by the vet scallywag? Just thinking about when Oscar the JRT did his cruciate ligaments, Jean was only told to give him short, on lead walks at first with no time limits and I don't think she was told anything about stairs either although she does live in a bungalow so that could explain that bit! He doesn't have to deal with them anyway, lol.

Well done scallywag. Good boy Beau. Keep up the good work both of you and the freedom of the garden will soon be at your paws and feet

Ok ... regime was set by vet, we were given a printed sheet , he was only allowed toilet breaks for 1st 2 weeks, after stitches were taken out he was on a 5 min walk 3 times a day, well.. hellooo those of you who seen my property that ment I could walk him out in IN Drive along the road and back in the Out Drve, well .. the looks he gave me, they were classic ! but it had to be done Wks 3-4 10 mins 3 x day Wks 5-6 15mins Wks 7-9 where we are at 20 - 25 mins and introduce srairs ( shhhh we are doing 30 mins some times on a walk, and maybe 20 on the 2nd walk j but vet said that was ok as long as his total is no more than 1 1/2 hrs so that takes us to 28/1 5/2 - 19/2 30 mins faster walks yeah rght ... with a Springer whose nose is to the ground constantly , its quite slow going

I can't remember exactly, but I think Jean was maybe told 10 minute walks, but only for a few weeks I think, then was just told to let him do what he wants to do again. She's still a little wary of him running too much in case anything happens, but she's been told it can't happen again once it's been repaired. He has slowed down a bit since having both of his done, but can still tear off after a motorbike or another dog if he wants to! I guess I'm just surprised that not all vets give a set rehab regime after a dog has been through that kind of operation. You'd think it would be a universal thing wouldn't you?

From memory thats exactly what we had to do with tobi and thats the same vet hes just 15 years older

Haha, maybe a case of one vet doing a bit more learning than the other then?

Haha, well I suppose I mean updating their knowledge regarding rehab processes than learning. Jean's vet perhaps hasn't done that, although he's supposed to be very good if it's who I'm thinking of. I'm sure she said that he's the same vet who performed the endoscopy on Pepper a couple of years ago, in which case I'm surprised.
Expensive business these dogs aren't they?!

Certainly do, Tobiโs last 2 years cost us over ยฃ7,000, Pancreas was his demise in the end, but you do what you can aford to do and we were very fortunate to be in the position to cover it. , still think about him alot , his 10 years anniversary is in a week, as per my lilypie

Of course. Having said that, even if I couldn't afford treatment, I'd do whatever I could to be able to afford it. I wouldn't be able to rest if I didn't. That's understandable. We still think about our last dog too, every time we hoover and we bump her memorial dog. She hated the hoover and she would have hated all 3 of the dogs we currently have. We were lucky that she never really needed surgery. She was on a vet diet at the end, which cost a small fortune, but was worth it.

Hi Pauline, your dog is really cute! Iโm sorry for being so brief. We are going through very strange weather right now. Lots of freezes. We have to watch for our pipes not to freeze. Iโll write to you a little later. Itโs very serious right here I am. Iโm only 3 miles away from the Gulf of Mexico, which makes everything different. Weather conditions are totally different. Iโll catch up with you hopefully soon. Nettie
