I'm beginning to think I'm cursed this year as first my much-longed-for dog and now wee Billy Kitten Lily was fine with Billy after the first couple of days but Chilli never took to him and her hissing soon became full-on attacks On Tuesday she really laid into poor Billy and I honestly think she would have killed him if I hadn't been there to chase her off Later on that evening she almost got hold of him again...in front of Neil this time...and that's when Neil said that perhaps it would be better for Billy if we tried to find him a new home where he wouldn't be constantly in danger of being mauled. I was at work Wednesday morning so knew of a couple of customers who loved cats and was going to ask them if they would like to adopt him (or knew of someone decent who would...someone who would also be responsible enough and vaccinate & neuter him)...and they said they would put the word out. But as it turned out it was my workmate who knew of somebody who loved cats and had just lost her old cat. She sent her a text and gave her my number and she, Alison, rang me up later that morning and we had a lovely long chat about cats. She'd lost her 14yo boy Felix just a couple of months ago (kidney failure) and now felt ready for another cat. I invited her round to our house and I explained the problems we were having because Chilli just did not like him one little bit and how I was scared he might be badly hurt as he was so tiny compared to Chilli Bean Billy was shameless....he loves everybody! He was climbing all over Alison's knees with his wee tail up in the air and purring like a little moped and she just fell completely in love with him Alison lives in the houses at the top end of Alnwick which back onto the golf course so lucky little Billy will be able to go outside once he's had his vaccinations and been neutered (Alison assured me she always gets this done...she too lost a cat years ago to a preventable disease!). She was going to write down her address for me but I said no...I didn't want to know the exact street & number because it was hard enough parting with Billy and I didn't want to know where to go to kidnap him back!!!! She has my number and knows where I live and work so if there's any problems she knows where to come. She went out to her car to get her carrier and Billy just walked straight in!!!! Lily wasn't too pleased though and sat at the top of the stairs for ages and just stared at the front door but after an hour or so was back to her normal self. Chilli had prowled around the whole house within minutes of them leaving and content that he HAD left she settled down to go to sleep on the living room window. By bedtime they were both chasing each other up and down the stairs as though everything was back to normal....little traitors!! I miss the wee man summik rotten but have to admit The Girls are a lot calmer and settled now so perhaps that's the way it's going to have to be - us being a Two-Cat Family Neil says it's MY fault....I've spoilt them both from the day they came home and they're both a pair of divas I think he MAY have a point!!! This is why I haven't been on much these past few days.....just felt SO guilty and rotten and, I must admit, I've shed a lot of tears over my wee ginger baby...even though I know he's gone to a really lovely home - I just miss him so much

Very sad to read this. Wish you'd said something on here, Mieze was the same with Carlotta when we first got her, we kept them separated for well over a month and when they finally met it went great. But glad he's gone to such a good sounding home, lucky him having a golf course to play in, bet he'll get up to loads of mischief there. You obviously care deeply for your pets and we all know that you're doing what's best for Chilli and Lily, but don't worry about being "just" a two cat household haha, two cat households are great! And with Lily around you'll feel like you have loads more cats than you really do haha. Is Alnwick quite big? You never know, maybe you'll bump into him in the street sometime in the future sure he'd thank you for the chance of being able to go out into the big wide world, bet he'll have a great time tormenting golfers by hunting their golf balls and running off with them haha.

That must be so difficult for you. I'm so sorry. But when Billy was in danger it is the best solution. It ought to go better, not worse. I understand that you don't want the woman's address. Otherwise you will drive around in the hope that you see Billy and you will be feeling even more miserable. Take care.

That's exactly what Neil said too - he'll love being able to go outside in a few months' time. With us he couldn't have gone out because we'd be terrified of him getting on the road outsde the courtyard Alison has said she'll show me photos of him and I said to give it a few weeks/months and I might go round to give him a cuddle.....but not yet as I still miss the little monkey so much. And yes....Lily has more than enough personality to keep me busy!!! We had to cancel her spay on Friday as the little monster started calling again on Thursday morning!!!!!! Yet today, Sunday, she's back to a happy chirpy kitten once more

That's such a shame @gillykat, maybe if Billy had been a little older and been neutered then Chili "MIGHT" just have taken to him, but right now as you say it was too dangerous for him. At least you have the comfort in knowing he's gone to a loving home with lots of space to play in. take care hun, {{HUGS}}

She must be at least two cats in one Once you see Billy when he's older out ruling the streets and prowling around his territory, you'll see for certain you've done the right thing and yeah, I can't let Carlotta and Mieze out coz it's totally not safe for cats here (I have a friend who has a balcony which opens into a huge garden enclosed by buildings, and she's built a cat ramp into the garden from her balcony, soooooo jealous haha), but then that's why I got Carlotta, an adult housecat. Even so, it took me over a year to let Smudgie and Bramble go outside haha, more because I was worried someone would nick them though (Bramble was the most beautiful little kitten).

Yes, Lily's definitely a funny 'un She had three seasons in a row at the beginning of the year that were approx. 24 days apart then nothing until May then nothing until Billy came home! I always seem to attract the 'special' animals

Hahaha glad my two back in Scotland didn't have them very often then! We bred from Smudgie once and then got them both spayed, even in season Bramble wouldn't go outside haha so there was no chance of breeding from her! Hahaha well @gillykat if this is true then I think that Lily will come into season mysteriously every time her spay is due

Could be mistaken though. :)Hahaha well @gillykat if this is true then I think that Lily will come into season mysteriously every time her spay is due I'd best start hiding my diary then so the little monkey cannot see when I've got her booked in And I'll not mention it on here until she's already been taken in to the vets....that way she cannot hack into my account on here and read about my plans!!!! I was out and about around the town earlier on doing a bit of food shopping and it seemed like every other person had a dog!!!! Lily & Chilli's ears must have been burning I tell you!!!!!! Little stroppy spoilt divas the pair of 'um I miss having a dog SO much it physically hurts!!!!! In a way I think that's why I'm trying for an allotment....it'll keep my active and busy since I don't have a dog to take me out walking Darned cats.....I love them but blooming little spoilt *******!!!!!!!

@gillykat, do you have any friends, neighbours or relatives that would let you take their dog for a walk or something? You could also consider volunteering for a rescue or something to get your doggy fix?

Yeah alfiemummy has a good point there, it's not the same as owning a dog but volunteering (or working!) at a dog kennels or rescue centre is great for a doggie fix. I volunteered at a dog kennels for over a year when I was younger and it was amazing! I know the feeling though, whenever I'm anywhere without a dog and see someone with a dog, I desperately long to have a dog with me!
