I'll have a search for them tomorrow, thanks!
I've got 2 pages of notes on obedience now. I'll have to get my video links down if not I'll never find them again at this rate! The internet is a wonderful thing, thats all I can say.

Good Luck Bextull and Oscar! I wouldn't train heel on a leash either but it can be done and some people and dogs find it easier than others, I trained heel off lead with all 4 of my dogs. My Akitas took to it straight away as did my Westie and Cocker Spaniel. What I done was I had a treat, I taught watch me/look at me (I use commands: look at me) and then I used look at me so the dogs could focus on me. Then I started point to my leg and heel until my dogs walked to it and stayed, I then told them to sit or lie down and repeated this then started adding the verbal command in which worked wonders. Good luck! Keep us posted and have fun in obedience classes when they start!

I did think it was a widespread method, just whenever I've looked it up it's been attributed to Trkman, so I thought that might be easier to search lol I'll have a look at Michelle Pouliot's clips, always interesting to see how other trainers work No problem Bextull I quite liked it and (as you know) freeshaping is better than modelling because the amount of learning with modelling is debatable. I need to do more freeshaping, I have an assessment which involves a free shaping aspect so I need to get practising Let me know how you and Oscar get on

We only started gettind back into the freeshaping on monday, well the freeshaping with the rotating on a tub, we do lots of other freeshaping stuff.
It's going to take some time to do but as I said, we're in no rush. He does little steps to the side at the moment so I have to help him along to get a full circle but as usual, he enjoys his free shaping games!
I'll keep you updated (or, well, I'll try anyway)

I'll be contacting Judith Owens who runs classes and competitions about an hour from me over Summer. I would do so sooner but at the moment I do not have the time to do anything major. BT, I think you are talking about loose leash walking as oppose to heeling. Ok, heeling without the leash - same things apply without the leash, treat method etc if you'd like. Usually, heel is trained on the lead to start with. BT, My trainer definitely taught me heel with dog off lead from the start. (and that's what Bextull is referring to as loose lead walking/heel which for me was for the KC GCA Gold i.e not competition heel).

Caz, I'm sorry, my trainer taught me on the lead

Well it all depends on the trainer and what techniques the trainer chooses to use and what the handler and dog feels comfortable with, I personally wouldn't train on the lead to start with but that's just my opinion Good luck with the free shaping bextull, enjoy!
