cazypops Sounds like it's going well and the bet visits aren't upsetting him. Personally I think you have made the right decision, I have pet insurance and I would still go down the injection route.

I said the same thing to the other half last night gladys, as we were leaving the vets. I know this is a long term option, but at least we know that if (god forbid) it doesn't work out we have another option to fall back on. Plus as I also said to him, Jasp is only 1 year old, and if canine hip replacements are anything like human ones, then they only last about 10 years and need to be redone, or so I'm lead to believe. And I bet that dog hips get a lot more stick than ours too.

Yeah that's the position my friend is in, her dog has now had two hip ops and she's only 6years. Keep us posted and ((hugs)) to all.

I can't believe I missed that last update, I'm sorry it was such bad news At least he's still a happy little man, and I really hope the injections can help him out.

I can't believe I missed that last update, I'm sorry it was such bad news At least he's still a happy little man, and I really hope the injections can help him out. Thanks SarahHound, it's only been just over a week since the injections started but fingers crossed it's looking positive. I noticed tonight he was limping a bit but it's nothing like what it has been, and he must be weight bearing more as the muscle in his bad leg looks like its building back up.

We took Jasper to the vets for his third injection this evening, and I'm pleased to be able to say that Chris is really please with him. He said that people only usually see an improvement after the third one, Jasp IS using that leg more and the muscle if definitely building back up. He also said that Jasper can still go swimming as long as he walks into the water, not dives in. Even though Jasp still has a limp and stands like a tripod at times, its a massive step forward.

Oh I'm so glad to hear he's ok Cazypops He sounds like a little fighter and its good to know he can go swimming! He might not be able to play fetch but at least he's not completely ristricted

I think if you gave him a choice between fetch and swimming, he'd pick swimming every time charlottte. But he still gets to have a little game of fetch at home in the living room, that way he's not running more than a couple of paces and he knows no different.
