We took Jasper to the vets this evening, and he totally disgraced himself by spraying in the waiting room. I wouldn't mind but he'd just had a pee outside first. He had an accident while playing in the river at the beginning of May, but we can't find the root of the problem. he's been standing like a tripod and now he's started getting muscle wastage in he bad leg. So he's going in on Monday for Xrays to see if we can find out once and for all what's going on.

Poor Jasper, hope they find out what's wrong on Monday. So do I, but I really hope it doesn't involve having to have an op as he's not insured.

Ouch - having said that our 4 cats aren't.
One had an op & x-rays last year - had an inflamed tendon that was only found when they opened the tendon sheath. This was despite having been on cage rest & Metacam for 17 days & 2 more of house rest beforehand. Once they cleaned out the tendon sheath, with more Metacam & antibiotics. Another 2 weeks crate rest & then a week house rest. Poor boy, don't think he will want to see a crate again!

Oh you're a brave soul! I really hope it doesn't come to an op then! I couldn't do without insurance, our jasper is a walking moneybags for vets! If there's no swelling etc is it not just possible that it was causing him some pain initially and now holding his leg up has become a habit? Our Jasper ( how confusing is this?) wouldn't bear weight on his front leg he had an X-ray and all the vet could find was soft tissue damage. Nothing severe but he had a lovely big green bandage on his leg (ill have to find photo) and metacam. He was meant to have it on a week but as he balances on his 2 front legs and a back leg (whilst tapping the other one) to have a poo, he had to have it taken off after 2 days because he couldn't 'go' and it would have made him ill. So he just had strict rest. Hopefully your Jasper is just the same and is just being a bit of a drama queen

Oh Jasper! I can sympathise with the disgracing himself bit - read my thread on my vet visit with my dog Aztec yesterday. I hope that the vet can find the problem with Jasper's leg.

Poor boy! Hope you can work out whats wrong from the x-ray. Don't be to embarrassed about what he did, it happens all the time in the vets, they will be used to it! Todd pooped all over the vet once when he picked him up, I was mortified at the time, but think its hilarious now!

Monday was the first available slot we could get. God I hope it gets sorted soon, I'm starting to really worry about him now. I can't get my head around that for a young fit dog a small tumble while playing in the river could cause all this.
