Wow, it was really windy on Saturday. Sometimes it was sunny and sometimes it really poured with rain. The wind didn't stop all day. I went down the road to visit my mother in law and was talking to a women who lives opposite. She said the zipped cover off her garden vegetable trug had blown away. She'd looked down the road in the car park and over the fence of her garden but it had gone. On the way back home from my visit I glanced in each garden just in case and I found the cover had blown across the road and over a high fence into a garden, 4 houses up. She was pleased to get it back.

Dry today & mainly sunny but every so often the clouds do dull it down as they pass over.
Saturday was very windy again with rain but Sunday was dry & occasionally sunny.

We had a pleasant weekend but it was quite cold. Bought 2 plants, mint and basil and left them out overnight. We had a frost on Sunday morning - the mint was fine but poor basil didn't make it! Went for a long walk on Sunday with my friend through the local park and onto the Brecon and Monmouth canal. It's a lovely walk and a shame I can't take Kobi. Rain forecast for tomorrow.

lotsofcats don't bin the basil it might recover or at least send up new shoots I'll just cut off the droopy bits of the plant and hope the centre bit is okay. How come you can't take Kobi, is it a dog free zone? That made me laugh tonib! I can't take Kobi because he has the strength of a bull and I would be on the floor being dragged most of the time! I just can't hold him and sadly I can never take him for a walk.

Yes tonib, hubby does all the dog walking and I go with him to collect the deposits! Kobi has a harness with a handle on which is handy to pull him back when we meet other dogs as that is when he pulls and barks.

What a beautiful weekend we had and today is the same - a pure blue sky with not a cloud in sight. A bit of a frost to start but it's warmed up now.

The weekend was dry & mainly sunny, today sunny, blue skies but still cool in the shade. Not like the house, it got baking indoors yesterday 26+C !!!! I have no idea what happened but according to the controller the central heating was off but the radiators were boiling hot! We have British Gas Hive controlling it & when I contacted them yesterday they rebooted the hub in case it was the connection to the boiler etc. It did cool down but did it again late last night but then the night time schedule kicked in & it all was OK again. However I realised that the evening cool down matched when the hot water schedule went to off & I remembered a few years ago (before we had Hive) that this happened when the valve controlling the routing of the hot water to immersion cylinder & central heating got stuck open on both when it should have only been to the cylinder. I must admit I thought that that had been changed since then but not sure. This morning although the radiators did heat up 1st thing they then went off (whilst the water was still on heating) but they've come back on again (I must admit I had the front door open dealing with a PAH delivery that DPD had left in the porch even though I was in (typical their tracker said they were 2 deliveries away when I went to open the summer house for the cats but I must have just missed the doorbell - or they didn't ring it!). I'd also done some washing up so that could have triggered hot water needed in the immersion but the radiators don't seem to be cooling down. At least its not (yet) reached the high of yesterday it's only 21.4C (thermostat control is set to 19!) I'll give it another half hour & if it hasn't cooled down I'm contacting B.Gas!

Matches me then lotsofcats! Got back from the hospital check up today to find the radiators cold - good - but the temperature is 24.4C ! I don't think the rooms have cooled down from when the radiators were on & then the sun is streaming in this afternoon & all windows closed whilst I was out! Will have to see what happens tomorrow.

Never mind tomorrow with radiators coming on & off the living room reached 28.4 & that was with the radiators cooling down again & windows open!!!
Finally got to speak to someone at British Gas - rather than just an automated book an engineer (amazing how many times the automated phone system asked for my post code, to which I stayed silent, before it decided to put me through to a human!). I was asked to turn off the boiler isolator but I checked the boiler lights first & found all off. When I told the operator she spoke to the emergency people who advised that besides turning the boiler off I should also turn the gas off at the meter.
I've got an engineer coming between 12 & 6 tomorrow. I just wish they could either have given me a morning appointment or a narrower window as it means that I'll have to be home by 12 & twiddle my thumbs until they arrive. I was given the go ahead this afternoon, by the hand therapist, that I could drive again so was intending to get some bulkier items from the supermarket. I'll just have to get going in the morning (by 10 a.m. at the latest as it takes 20 minutes each way) & be back by 12.

Another gorgeous sunny day today. The plants in the garden are growing fast and the birds are zooming about collecting worms and bugs for their babies. We had to put the bell back on Toffee's collar as he nearly had a blackbird yesterday - the other birds didn't half tell him off.

Its been a sunny day today around 21C & not only that but thanks to British Gas yesterday its much cooler in the house. they even rang me mid morning to say they had just finished a job around the corner & could they come early. Suited me. I was impressed with myself as the engineer confirmed it was the diverter valve again! This was unjammed & cleaned & is working correctly now. He confirmed it had been replaced before as it was the latest style.
