.... otherwise he's really not going to be a happy puss cat tomorrow.
On Sunday Osiris happily tucked into his breakfast. In the evening he came for his meal & as it was sunny wanted it outside as he often does but when we put it down he promptly moved away from it into the bushes & was sick - just liquid & showed no interests in food. He went & settled on a chair in the summer house. I tried again a hour or so later & he got off the chair & was sick again on the grass, again just liquid. It wasn't the retching of a hairball definitely a case of being sick. I cooked some chicken for him & while it was warm tried him with it - he didn't want it. This was Osiris not well, he loves his chicken.
We kept him in overnight with no food. He didn't complain which again was unlike him. In the morning I tried a little cooked chicken but no interest, so removed his water & phoned the vet. Got an appointment for 9:10 a.m. Of course he decides its time to play the hide under the (heavy) conservatory chair game & move between the 3 while I try to get him to put him in the carrier!
He was quiet on the journey. When the vet tried to get him out of the carrier he wasn't coming out easily, the vet commented that Osiris was strong!!! He had a normal temperature & nothing could be found other than tartar on his back teeth but not thought to be a cause. So antibiotic & anti-nausea injections and home to a light diet (chicken & rice) but no tuna as apparently that can increase any tendency to nausea.
Also 1.2 ml of anti-nausea medicine 3 times a day starting that day for 5 days & to be kept in. Tried to give it to him myself & have the scars to prove it. Now we have a routine, Mark puts on an old anorak & heavy gardening gloves, picks up Osiris on to his lap & wraps him in a towel while I try to syringe the liquid into his mouth. In the mean time Osiris is squirming & trying to claw. Even when held still his head is twisting but we succeed.
The injections did the trick & after I'd cooked some rice he eat his first (small) meal of chicken & rice. Well chicken really the rice was left & not just in the bowl!! However definitely not himself as he didn't complain about being kept in. He's gradually getting better. Now complaining he's hungry & wants out. So I've added in a small amount of cat food into the mix & he's fine. He hates using a litter tray but Tuesday onwards he's wee'd in it but still no sign of poo - when he does it's going to be a stinker! Rang the vet today as its now 90 hours + since Osiris last went. He hasn't had a lot of food but is happily eating. The vet advised adding olive oil to his food but as we already had Katalax then said to use that. Osiris isn't too keen on it but is licking it off his paws.
However, this is the bit Osiris really won't like. If he hasn't defecated by tomorrow morning then he's to go to the surgery & he'll probably have to have an enema!!! Poor Osiris starts being ill by it coming out one end & now looks like he's still having problems at the other end!!
