It's great that you have an excellent lifetime policy and such good vets.

It's great that you have an excellentlifetime policy and such good vets. My vets are fantastic. Sadly we've had some bad news he's suffering from degenerative myleopathy it used to be known as cdrm. He's not suffering but the vets can't help him. We can only make him comfortable. I should gets his blood results by Saturday the latest. I can't believe how my poor boy has gone through so much in life

I've got to keep a diary on his changes like I did last time. I just hope they dont make him as poorly like last time. I've also bought him some boots to help him not damage his paw anymore than what he already has. It's just a case of making him comfortable for as long as I've got him

So sad that there's not much that can be done for Alfie after all he's been through. My heart goes out to you both.

Thank u all for thinking of alfie. I don't know how long I've got my boy but for however long it will be I will enjoy him and make him as comfortable as I can. He will be 9 in Jan, he has accepted that he has to wear boots now and he's coping really well with them. We will be taking him for a blood pressure check in a couple of weeks to see if has come down, my vet don't want to do any blood tests for awhile now as she knows what we are know what we are looking for in changes.

Oh scruffsmaz . I've just read your posts (I've been away). I had to look up drm, poor Alfie & you. Glad to hear he's accepted the boots, he sounds like a dog that really trusts you to look after him. I & all of us here will be thinking of you & Alfie & wishing you good luck with the vetoryl.

He does. I've never known or owned a dog like him. He is so laidback even the vets can work on him without any problems. His nose bleeds has started again so I've let the vets know now I have to wait and see what they say. That poor lad of mine never has any luck but I wouldn't swap him he is my world and I love him so much. The bond I have is great he will let me do anything to him.

Sorry to hear the nose bleeds have started again scruffsmaz, your bond sounds marvellous It is he's just the best. Well alf has shocked my vet. Alf is walking nearly properly after wearing his boots for 2 weeks and he's also cocking his leg again also he's started jumping again. She couldn't believe it. He has his moments with his leg but he is doing so well. We had him looked at about his nose bleeds and we all think that there is something in the vetoryl that he might be allergic to so we have to do 2 swaps up his nose when its snotty. It might give us some clue what's going on. It won't be very nice for him at the time but we need to get to the bottom of the cause of the nose bleeds.

Well Alfie's blood pressure is high, it's still over 200 instead of 140 so my vets has upped his tablets to see if that helps, he is also coming off the vetoryl onto something similar. The company has said it could be something in the vetoryl that he is allergic to so we'll see how we get on with this new stuff. We are so lucky we have a really good vet. We have also been able to do both swaps from up his nose, the 1st one came out negative but we're still waiting for the 2nd one. Poor lad but he's been so good with everything he's going through but he's always happy and that's what is so nice to see.
