Alfie is still doing ok on the stairs at the minute but he's never been confident on them since we've had him. Going down the stairs can be a problem for him sometimes his back legs don't work so all we hear is him banging and I do wonder if he's hurt himself or not, he has had an accident on the stairs in the past to the stage he bruised himself underneath.

He's not too bad, he's been put on more antibiotics till we find out if the trilostane is causing the colitis, he's had to have his tramadol upped because he's struggling more with his legs and now he has to have an ultrasound on his stomach because the vet is concerned about it which I've been telling her for over a month now. He's not been him self since Xmas, he's been very quiet, he doesn't seem to want to play either which isn't alf at all. I so worried about him.

With a fight I'm starting to get somewhere as I think his colitis is down to his cushions or trilostane, alf his having his ultrasound on Thursday morning and different type of blood tests, he has to stay in for the morning, I also mentioned about his swollen belly which the vet has only just started to listen to me.
All this started nearly 2 weeks after his trilostane was upped, I keep a diary on what's going on with alf, it helps me and also the vet when she listens.
I hate the thought that I have to keep putting him through all this all the time as he hates going to the vets these days because of the masks, but I do know if I don't do this I won't get him sorted, he still has to have the antibiotics to stop the diarrhea until we find out what's going on with him.

Itβs good that you are keeping a diary I think that will really help and you then have evidence to show your vet πx

Glad that it's not cancer scruffsmaz. I hope that his cushions can be controlled once the bloods are sorted. Me too this has been going on since December and now the vets believe me we are getting somewhere, he's still on his antibiotics for another week while we wait for his results

Another update...
Alfs bloods have come back. He's got bacterial antibiotic-respsonsive diarrhoea.
I'm so confused with it all at the minute as I was only told yesterday but apparently it's a common problem in german shepherd's, he'll be on antibiotics for the rest of his life, from next week we'll be putting him on different ones to the ones he's on now and he'll be on 3 a day for 2 weeks then we'll be dropping then to 2 aday for another 2 weeks and see low a dose he can manage with his diarrhoea.
I've also spoke to the vet last week about splitting his trilostane in 2 instead of only once a day and she has agreed as she has spoke to the company and they have it is better for him to have it that way it might also help his stomach because its swollen due to the cushions.
It's been alot of hard word for us and also the vet to make sure alf is getting the best care as possible.
I just hope alf can have a break from it all so he can enjoy his life, its not been fair or easy on him.

I hope this means the vet is getting poor Alfie's meds all sorted so that he can have a quiet life, bless him. You must spend your life worrying so much about him, you need some positive news.
