I use a mix of treats spider. The commercial ones such as Dreamies or the Hi-life alternatively some rather nice kibble that I got to try for Lexie but she can't have it but Roman loves it. They all get some chicken breast each night as a bedtime treat/bribery for coming in for the night. Osiris also has that laced with his Metacam! Lexie currently has some Hills Metabolic treats, with her medicines, which are low fat as the vets advice a few years back was she shouldn't have the higher fat brands (hence why not the kibble that Roman gets as a treat). Unfortunately Hills no longer do them so I've just got the open pack & one other left & then I won't know what to give her. I suspect it will the the nice kibble as 3 pieces shouldn't upset her tum (I hope) I just cook a chicken breast in the oven (nothing added) & then its kept in the fridge to use as necessary. However with 3 cats I just about use it up before it reaches the max. time I would want to use it for. With just one cat,, unless you use it for sandwiches or the like as well I'd think you'd be throwing away a good proportion of the breast. Chicken fillets would be better sized but much more expensive. I never thought of popping the freeze dried chicken into water that might work for Osiris as he hates any dried food/treat with a vengeance.

I think it would be better for you to cook your own chicken and cut it up in cubes spider. That way you know you are getting the best piece of chicken. Iceland fresh chicken fillets are quite reasonable. I fry them for my cats but don't add any oil. I also buy the bags of frozen chicken strips from Asda (cheaper than Iceland) and these are ready cooked - I just take enough out and leave them to defrost - they are ready cooked and the cats actually prefer these to my cooked chicken.

They look interesting spider and I also didn’t know about chicken strips lotsofcats need to get Bella off the dreamies she’s put on so much weight & the vet thinks it’s down to the dreamies apparently 1 dreamie is the equivalent to 1 donut to a human xx the chicken ideas looks like a healthier alternative x

1 Dreamie is equivalent to a donut!! Oh my goodness, I'll have to get my Kali off them, no wonder she is a pudding. The chicken strips are from Asda's, they cost £2.50 for a bag of 350g. You can get bigger bags. Make sure you get the cooked ones and then you only have to defrost them. I've never seen those treats spider.

We getting them.in Asda I think 2 pound but not sure now isn't it hard to know what's really in them but they shouldn't be allowed to sell.stuff that will in the long form prop leave pets overweight ok they say cut down food to make up from treats but that's also wrong isn't it

I must admit that I try to remember (& don't always action) to reduce normal food if the cats are getting any treats even if that's just cooked chicken. If it's just a one off occasion then that's different but if its regular treats then all have a calorie value.
It's the same for humans the more we eat, even of food that is good for us, without more exercise to compensate we put on weight.

Now I know why Tosha is so fat. I must stop giving her Vitakraft sticks and Whiskas dentabites. I cannot stop with the Vitakraft liquid snacks. Both are looking forward to them all day long. They get them at 10.30 pm and half an hour earlier they are already waiting and staring at me.

lotsofcats, found the Asda cooked chicken strips yesterday so got some. It may seem a silly question but how do you defrost them? I put some on a plate covered with clingfilm in the fridge & found that when defrosted they were very soft, not as firm as I'd have expected. I needed to supplement the 3 cats' supper last night & so Osiris got some mixed in & didn't complain

That reminds me to get some out for later. I hope your cats loved it.
